What is Lu Rou Fan?

Lu Rou translates as braised meat (pork), Fan means rice. Lu Rou Ran refers to braised pork belly sauce poured over a bed of freshly steamed rice. It is especially popular in Taiwan. Typically, it is served along with blanched split bok choy and braised hard boiled egg.

I prefer to mix Lu Rou Sauce with pan fried vegetables to cut down the greasiness of the pork belly.

I just harvested a lot of tender leek greens from my vegetable garden, therefore I am going to use them. By the way, leek is a superfood vegetable. Perfect to make a tasty and long-lasting pesto out of it.
